This school has always been very closely associated with the Convent and the Sisters there. At the time when the Sisters bought Stoke Lodge and the land around it St Martin's school was a private boarding school for girls of any denomination aged eleven to eighteen. They attended worship with the sisters. In 1962/3 the school was enlarged and became voluntary aided for boys and girls. Sister Louis Bertrand who was in charge of the Convent part of the complex became the headmistress at the school where she served with distinction for 26 years. The school was further enlarged and modernised and now serves the wider area of Hinckley and district.
